Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.

Pupil Premium is based on the number of children who are entitled to free school meals or have been entitled over the previous six years. It also includes those children in care who have been continually looked after for more than six months.

Changes to free school meal eligibility effective 1 September 2026

In June 2025, the UK government announced that, from the 2026 to 2027 academic year, the eligibility criteria for Free School Meals in England will be expanded to all children in households receiving Universal Credit.

As a result of this change we must carry out:

· a new FSM check for all pupils currently receiving free school meals; and

· a new check for any parent who thinks they will now be eligible because they are in receipt of Universal Credit.

Please find below a registration form for you to complete if you think you may be eligible. Please complete this form even if your child is currently in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 because this additional funding is available for every child whose parent is in receipt of certain benefits or support.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the school office. Paper copies of the registration form are also available from the school office. The form can either be sent to us via the admin email or handed in to the office confidentially.

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
