At Shenfield St Mary’s it is our school policy that all children wear a school uniform when attending school, or when participating in school-organised events outside normal school hours. We ask children to wear their shirts tucked into their skirts or trousers and to take pride in their appearance.
Some items of uniform can be bought from our school suppliers www.smartypantsschoolwear.com or https://www.redoakwear.co.uk
while others are readily available, at very competitive prices, at local shops including supermarkets. There is a range of good quality nearly new items on sale at the PFA preloved uniform shop, open after school one afternoon a week.
Our policy on school uniform is based on the belief that school uniform:
All items (clothes, coats, shoes, school bags and wellingtons) must be clearly marked with the child’s name. This is really important as losing items can be quite distressing for children.
N.B. You may continue to wear the old style PE kit if this is your preference e.g. sustainability due to handing down to younger siblings/purchasing from our pre loved shop.
Items in bold are branded Shenfield St Mary's compulsory items
* Items available from Smarty Pants or Red Oak Roller
^ Please ensure ‘brands’ are not black on individual items either. Decathlon, supermarkets, Amazon and M&S all stock the dry fit and or cotton tracksuit trousers.
Children may wear maroon, navy or black anoraks, raincoats or coats with hoods. Hats, scarves and gloves should be either plain black, maroon or navy. All children should wear sensible black shoes (below the anklebone, no open-toed sandals, shoes with batteries for lights or wheels, sling-backs or shoes with heels).
Shoulder length hair is to be tied back with a modest plain maroon or black hair band (no flowers, wraps, hard cuffs or beads, thank you). Necklaces and bracelets should not be worn unless there is a specific request to the Head of School (i.e. medical).
Only small plain studs are to be worn in both ears and removed for PE lessons. Earrings cannot be taped, and children should be able to remove them for themselves. Make up and nail varnish should not be worn for school.
