Safeguarding Statement

At Shenfield St Mary's, the safety, wellbeing and happiness of every child are at the heart of everything we do. We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and expect all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.

We believe that every child has the right to feel safe, valued and respected, and to be protected from harm. We work hard to create a caring, inclusive and supportive environment where children are encouraged to speak openly and know that they will be listened to.

Our safeguarding procedures are underpinned by national legislation and statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education. All staff receive regular safeguarding training and understand their responsibility to recognise concerns, respond appropriately and report them promptly.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL,) Mrs Bundy and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads, Miss Chandler, Miss Judd and Mrs Taggart are responsible for overseeing safeguarding within the school, providing support to staff, and working closely with children, families and external agencies to ensure pupils receive the help they need.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We encourage parents and carers to work in partnership with us to promote the welfare of children. If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please contact the school immediately and ask to speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
