Sparrowhawk - Miss Butler

Our Class Charter - we all decided on these rules for our class to make it safe and fun place for everyone to learn and succeed.

Creating our tie-dye T-shirts - we practised the effects we could make on a prototype and then used these ideas to design our t shirts all ready for the fashion show.

Forest School Week one - we had fun at forest school this week. We practised our den making skills using tarps and sticks, had a go at using a hammer to make hedgehogs, created hotels and used our imaginations.

Computing - practising our touch typing skills using bbc bitesize dance mat typing. We had to think about where our hands are placed on the keyboard and what fingers we use.

Local area walk and visit to the library

Mary Anning - research about Mary Anning. We found out about her and why she is important.

Happy Easter!

Fabulous Finish - Roman feast - we enjoyed tasting some fruit and biscuits that the romans would have had and entertained each other with jokes, songs and acrobatics!

Our DT Project this half term has been on pneumatic systems and inventing a moving toy with a roman theme. We found out how pneumatic systems work but looking and trying out using syringes and tubing. We then designed a toy which has a moving part and used tubes and syringes to make them work. We were very pleased with what we made! Well done Sparrowhawk Class

Our finished Mosaic designs

Intrahouse basketball - we focused on following rules, teamwork and perseverance. The games were great to watch and see everyone get involved. Great job Sparrowhawk Class.

Our trip to Colchester Castle

We have had fun creating our roman mosaics. First we thought about how mosaics are made, then used clay to make our own tessarae. After we design our 6 x 6 tile- thinking about using different shades of the same colour. The next step was to paint the tiles and finally put them together to create the 6 x 6 tile.

Enjoying using rulers to measure in centimetres and metres in maths

Our stunning starter for this term was to play so Roman inspired board games.

Our finished Egyptian shadufs! We worked hard together to complete the shadufs and worked together to solve problems as we went along. Great work Sparrowhawk class.

Testing out different joints - we looked at hinge joints and ball and socket joints to find out how they work and what parts of our body use them.

Skeletons - our fantastic homework on skeletons to link with our science learning.

Year 3 enjoyed joining together in house groups and taking part in intra house tasks.

Prayer space day

Egyptian style portraits

Painting our Egyptian portraits. We thought about the colours used and mixed the colours needed. We then added the details.

Ancient Egyptian Day - we had great day with Mark from Portals of the past sharing lots of the information about the importance of the Ancient Egyptians. we took part in a quiz, games and role play.

Art sketching - we used pencils to sketch our self portraits. Then we looked around at others work decided what skills we could see they had used.

Well done! You completed your ride and stride work. It looks like you had lots of fun.

Egyptian homework

Stunning starter - we had fun wrapping each other up to be mummies, it was a great afternoon and we tried hard to not let the paper tear.

Summer reading challenge - well done to the children who took part.
