Girl’s county rounders finals:

We took the rounders team to Gosfield School in Halstead on July 4th. The team took a while to settle down and get into their rhythm but they played some nice rounders. Unfortunately we were knocked out in the first round! The team had a lovely day and enjoyed the experience.

Cricket finals:

We had got both the girl’s and boy’s teams in the Kwik cricket finals at Billericay Cricket Club.

On Monday 27th, it was the girl’s finals. Unfortunately the district athletics was on the same day, so some of our team were unable to come. However, the girls worked well as a team and really learnt some new skills as the day went on. They didn’t make it past the knockout stages, but they were a credit to St Mary’s - very polite and very sporting. Well done girls!

On Tuesday 28th it was the turn of the boys. We played 2 teams in the knockout stages, won both and proceeded to the next round. All the winners of the groups had to play for a place in the finals. We had 2 very tough opposition teams. The first game against Engayne School was so close. It looked as though St Mary’s were going out, but in the last over, Harry L bowled brilliantly, with the fielders getting some great catches and we managed to win. The 2nd game was more comfortable and we went through to the final. It was very tense and both teams played some lovely cricket. However, it was going to be our day! Well done St Mary’s cricket team - you are the best in Essex! Now for the regional finals on Friday 15th July at Essex County Ground.

Brentwood Games:

This is always a lovely event at Shenfield School. The pupils take parts in different sports - BMX, body combat, curling, dodgeball and zumba. It was a very hot day, but the 28 children who came had a great time participating.
